With your time and support, African Development Choices can lobby for change, raise funds, become a bigger voice, and turn concepts into action. However much or little time you have to give, we want you on our team.

You can raise funds in all sorts of weird and wonderful ways. Here are a few ideas to get you started.

Individuals or Teams:

  • Hold a fundraising event at your place of work or in your local community
  • Take part in a sporting event and get sponsorship
  • Ask your place of work or local school to choose us as their Charity of the Year
  • Shave your head!
  • Leave us a gift in your will
  • Set up a crowdfunding page

Feel free to pitch any other fundraising ideas to us. We would love to hear your suggestions.

Choose us as your Charity of the Year

Meet your CSR aims and make a difference to whole communities in Africa at the same time.

Make a corporate donation

Charitable giving is not simply an act of kindness. It also reduces your Corporation Tax bill. Find out more on the UK Government website.

Offer match funding

Create real team spirit in the workplace and match your staff’s fundraising efforts £ for £. It raises double the funds for us and you can claim tax benefits.

Introduce cause-related marketing

This is a real win-win. With your support, we gain more funds and greater exposure. You can expect to make more sales and gain public awareness of your values and support for a worthwhile cause. Take a look at The Institute of Fundraising’s great examples of cause-related marketing to get some ideas.

Sponsor an event

Partner with us when we run an event and benefit from substantial marketing and PR benefits.

Sponsor a project

There are many different types of project that you can fund, including building a school playground or library, drilling a community well and improving sanitation. We’ll give you regular progress updates and we’d welcome a visit from your team!

Donate a percentage of your sales

Donating a small percentage of your sales to African Development Choices can be great for building loyalty in your brand.

Payroll giving

Set up a payroll giving scheme like Give As You Earn and give your staff the opportunity to donate monthly and receive tax benefits too.

Gifts in kind

We welcome goods such as computers, laptops, tablets, software and apps that we can pass on to the schools and communities that we support for free.

Provide remote professional support to a project

Offer your professional expertise remotely in support of our work, e.g. construction, marketing, PR, fundraising, project management, social media management or website management and more.

Please contact us for more information.

Volunteer on an overseas project

Support our team of local staff on the ground. We provide you with accommodation, food and local transport (subject to availability) in exchange for your time. Your only cost will be your return travel costs to Kenya.

It would be good to say what skills you are looking for so you can structure expectations about who can apply.

Please contact us for more information.

Raise awareness about our work, the issues we support and the practices that we challenge by sharing on social media, writing articles/blogs, organising an event and word of mouth.

Please contact us if you need support to turn your idea into action.

Organise to collect any or all of the above items from your surrounding schools and communities. We arrange to collect the goods from you and distribute them for free to children in the communities that we support.

Please contact us for more information.

Offer your services to help us tell the stories of how our projects are transforming local communities. Cover your own return travel costs to Kenya and we’ll cover your local accommodation, food and transport costs (subject to availability).
