I was attracted to the Nyansakia Primary School project in Kenya, and ADCs emphasis on accountability, community awareness and grassroots development in its three-step process. I recently completed an MPhil in Education, International Development and Globalisation. The quality of education in the Global South is of particular interest to me. In my thesis titled 'Tower of Babel: educating a linguistically diverse Nigeria' I investigated the Language of Instruction (LoI) used in primary schools in Abuja, Nigeria. In my spare time, I enjoy attending academic talks, reading and creative writing.
I decided to join ADC as I was drawn to the Three-Step Approach and the focus on transparency and empowering local communities within that. This is something which I find to be extremely important and often lacking in other development initiatives. I am currently doing an internship in Peru, leading groups of volunteers and managing development projects in primary schools. Outside of work and volunteering, I like to go on walks in the Yorkshire Dales with my border terrier and travel to new exciting places.
